The 10-day conference will focus on the establishment of a European network for democratic education to facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practice among democratic schools and organisations in Europe.
From Saturday through Wednesday, the programme will be organised in the form of an "open schedule". During this time, participants can offer workshops and meet regularly in working groups, each organised around a specific theme.
During the Public Session on Thursday and Friday, both conference participants and guests are invited to take part in a scheduled programme of workshops focused on the following main themes:
- Democratic Education / Democratisation of Education
- Democratic School Development and Projects in Europe
- Scientific Theories, Concepts and Insights on Self-Directed and Informal Learning
- Student Voice
- Educational Reform
- Natural Learning
- Children’s Rights
On Thursday afternoon, representatives from organisations and democratic schools will present their work in a "Democratic Education Expo".
During the "Wrap-up" session on Saturday the working groups will have the chance to present the results of their work and the European Democratic Education Community will hold its first annual general meeting.
A closing celebration will be (dis)organised on the last evening of the conference.
Every day will end with an evening programme devoted to fun activities through which participants can get to know one another and visit sites in and around Leipzig.
The conference languages are English and German. |
