How to Get There

The conference will take place at the

University of Leipzig
Sportwissenschaftliche Fakultät
Jahnallee 59
04109 Leipzig.

The camping site is right across from the University, and the school building where many participants are staying is a short walk (Max-Planck-Str. 1/3).

The conference information desk, where everyone should check in upon arrival, will be located at the University and will open at noon on Friday, 25 July. If you are planning on arriving earlier, please contact us in advance.

Click here for a map of the three locations (University, camping site and school building).

From the airport Halle/Leipzig

When you arrive at the airport, follow the signs to the train platform. A schedule of trains leaving for Leipzig is available here. Once you get to the main station ("Hauptbahnhof") in Leipzig, exit the train station on the south side (opposite the tracks). Then follow the directions from the train station below.

From the airport Altenburg (Ryanair)

The shuttle bus to Leipzig is parked at the front entrance of the airport for every flight that arrives. Tickets can be purchased directly from the driver (€12 for adults and €7.20 for children under 14). It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get to Leipzig. The shuttle arrives at the Leipzig train station on the West side. There is a large tram station right in front of the train station. From there, follow the instructions given below.

From the train station (Hauptbahnhof)

Click here for a map of the Leipzig tram and bus network. From the train station, you can take any of the following trams to the University: the 3 or 13 to "Großzschoher" or "Knautkleeberg", the 7 to "Böhlitz-Ehrenberg" or the 15 to "Miltitz". The tram stop in front of the University is called "Sportforum". When you get off, you will see the Central Stadium to the north of the street and the University to the south. Enter the University through the central building and follow the signs.

By Car

There is a large car park in front of the Festwiese (which is a large field in front of the Central Stadium on the corner of Jahnallee and Am Sportforum). The car park entrance is on the street Am Sportforum, north of Jahnallee. Parking is only 2 Euros per day, but no parking is available on Saturdays because there is a weekly open-air market there. We recommend you park there upon arrival just to make it easier to find a spot, then move your car for a day to a nearby street. Otherwise you can try to park near the school (Max-Planck-Str. 1/3) and walk to the University (Jahnallee 59) to check in. We assume you will find the best directions with an online route planner, but if you need any help, just let us know: info@eudec2008.org.
